Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer a wide range of programs including LEAP Labs, which are geared towards families and children (these typically take place on Saturdays); evening programming, which often includes live music, performances, outdoor movies, community collaborators, and more; and lunchtime programming, which take place midday and include, performances, speed networking, and more.

  • For the most part, the events that take place in the Kendall/MIT Open Space are free and open to the public. If you would like to have a private event, we suggest booking the MIT Welcome Center, which includes an outdoor patio area. We also suggest checking out nearby event spaces at the MIT Museum and in MIT’s iHQ. More potential private event spaces around MIT, Cambridge, and beyond can be found on the MIT Institute Events website.

  • Yes! Just be sure to toss your trash/recycling in the bins before you leave. Feel free to fill up your water bottle in the bottle filler in the space, too. Check out the informal gatherings info for more information.

  • The MIT Welcome Center is open to the public between 9 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday. Feel free to join us at an upcoming event; you can check out our program calendar here.

  • Public restrooms are available inside the MIT Welcome Center from 9am - 5pm, and during most events. There are men's and women's restrooms, and a single occupancy all gender restroom. All are wheelchair accessible and have changing tables.
