Midday Music and Soup: Joseph Borsellino & Friends

  • MIT Welcome Center 292 Main Street Cambridge, MA 02142 (map)

Registration recommended! You’ll be the first to learn of event details or if the location or date changes due to inclement weather.

Join saxophonist/composer Joseph Borsellino III and bassist Tony Irons for Mkeka, their captivating new project featuring effects-laden textures and intricate grooves drawn from African diasporic music.

While you listen, enjoy a delicious hot cup of soup from Souper Roll Up Cafe (on us, while supplies last!). To keep things sustainable, we encourage you to bring your own mug or bowl. If you do, you’ll get a special sweet treat!

Presented in partnership with Cambridge-based New England Jazz Collaborative.

  • The mkeka is a tablecloth used in Kwanzaa celebrations, representing foundation, history, and tradition – the idea that today is built on yesterday. This all-star ensemble is a melding of the minds of multi-hyphenate saxophonist and composer Joseph Borsellino III and in-demand bassist Tony Irons. The duo is joined by pianist Jesse Taitt and drummer Tyson Jackson, both highly-acclaimed composers, educators, and community leaders.
